Upskilling pathways, new opportunities for adults in Italy
The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) has just published the research paper Thematic country review on upskilling pathways: new opportunities for adults in Italy - Key findings of the three research phases and suggestions for future action, which is now available online on the institution's website.
The research focused on supporting member states in developing coordinated approaches to upskilling pathways for low-skilled adults, and was carried out by a consortium comprising the Italian National Institute for the Analysis of Public Policies (INAPP) and led by FGB, as part of the service contract with Cedefop.
The thematic review on Italy concentrates on outreach, guidance, and tailored training for adults with low skills, aged between 29 and 64. Emphasising the importance of personalised learning pathways, supported by regional collaboration and multi-stakeholder governance, the publication explores some key areas, including: engaging the most vulnerable through holistic outreach and guidance; tailored training based on personalised skill assessments; SMEs' role in delivering training for low-skilled workers; implementing "reti territoriali", a network of coordinated lifelong learning services.
"This collaborative initiative fosters sustainable upskilling practices, empowering adults to participate actively in society and the labour market" states Liga Baltina, coordinator of the project for FGB. "Italy's experience offers valuable lessons for other EU countries committed to building inclusive and effective upskilling pathways. FGB extends its gratitude to INAPP in Italy for their excellent collaboration throughout the project".
